Smart Spook Becomes NRHA Three Million Dollar Sire

smart-spookSmart SpookSmart Spook made it a three-peat when his offspring continued to excel in the show pen and earned their sire more than three million dollars and a new moniker – National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Three Million Dollar Sire.

The 2001 stallion is by NRHA Six Million Dollar Sire and Hall of Fame Inductee Smart Chic Olena and out of Sugarplum Spook, by Million Dollar Sire Grays Starlight. Bred, raised, and owned by Rosanne Sternberg, one of only a few designated NRHA Million Dollar Owners, Smart Spook is well known for his athletic ability and outstanding disposition.

“This year has been a truly great year for Smart Spook, not only entering the NRHA Hall of Fame, but now, at the young age of 14, reaching the level of a Three Million Dollar Sire,” said Sternberg. “This is also an important year for the NRHA, celebrating its 50th anniversary and moving into a new office and Hall of Fame building. Smart Spook and I are honored to be part of the NRHA’s milestone in reining and look forward to continuing to make an enduring mark and legacy in the sport, for many years to come.

“Raising, owning and standing Smart Spook is the dream of any horse breeder and reiner. His wonderful temperament and character, which he passes on to his foals, brings endless enjoyment to my family,” Sternberg added.

Smart Spook has more than $403,000 in NRHA lifetime earnings. Not only did he win the 2004 NRHA Futurity Level 4 Open Championship, 2005 NRHA Derby Level 4 Open Championship and 2005 American Quarter Horse Association Junior Reining World Championship, he also earned a record six gold medals in FEI World Reining Masters competition.
