Thebettertohearuwith & Fappani Top Futurity Level 4 Open at Reining By The Bay

Derby Open

Receiving the Derby Level 4 Open Championship for the second consecutive year was Mr Electric Spark (Jacs Electric Spark x Sailin Rowdy x Rowdy Yankee) and Fappani. Despite only having Mr Electric Spark, owned by Reining Partners LLC, for just a week, Fappani was able to easily mesh with the 6-year-old stallion and score a 226.5 in the 26-horse class for the win, worth $11,596.

“This horse won it here last year. It’s a horse that I’ve been sharing with one of the partners that owns the horse, Tyson Randle, and he’s been showing him a little bit this year,” Fappani said. “I showed him once at the National Reining Breeders Classic. I know this horse pretty well and it doesn’t take me that much to get together with him. He fits me well and this arena fits him good because he is really strong in his circles and this is a nice big open pen.”

The Derby Level 4 Open Reserve title went to Chexmaster (Nu Chex To Cash x Snip O Gun x One Gun) and Tracer Gilson. The duo scored a 226 and earned a $9,111 paycheck for owners Joe and Karen Moran.
