NRHA Announces Executive Committee Candidates

Rick Ramsey • Rush, Kentucky

Rick Ramsey • Executive Committee CanidateRick RamseyRick Ramsey, of Rush Kentucky, currently serves on the judges and compensation committees, in addition to heading a task force on global governance.

“When our job is completed,” Ramsey said, “we should enable our group to recommend a way for NRHA to address each area’s concerns and needs without affecting the concerns and needs of other regions globally.

“Also, I have put forth a proposed rule change which would affect the eligibility requirements for continuing to remain a non-professional,” Ramsey said. “I proposed this rule in an effort to stimulate a conversation among our membership as to what constitutes a true non-pro competitor, as opposed to the perceived ‘professional non-pro’,who appears to have certain advantages.”

Ramsey hopes are starting the conversation about non-pro eligibility will bring the NRHA membership to a consensus over the issue.

“On the surface it appears to be a controversial proposal, but unless the problem is put forth, it will continue to be an issue among our membership for many years to come,” Ramsey said.

Ramsey is the owner of two small businesses involved in real estate land title, and oil and gas land work.

“I have reached a place in my life, nearly 70 years now, where I can devote the time to a few of my passions and the reining horse is one of those,” Ramsey said. “I have no agenda other than seeing NRHA grow and continue to prosper, and for this reason, I would like to spend the next two years finishing some work I have started. Along with other members of the executive committee and board of directors, we are working toward bringing parity to our sport and to provide a forum where we can prosper and enjoy our discipline. These efforts will become more and more noticeable in the foreseeable future and with those efforts being successful growth should be accelerated at every level of the sport of reining.

“This is who I am and what I am about and I would truly appreciate your vote so I can continue to serve the membership and NRHA. Thank you,” Ramsey said.
