Boon San Spoon Sends Alice Walton Out In Style

BoonSanSpoonBoon San Spoon & Jesse LennoxShortly after the announcement of her Sept. 21-22 Walton’s Rocking W Ranch absolute dispersal sale, Alice Walton’s homebred Boon San Spoon carried Jesse Lennox to the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Summer Spectacular Classic/Challenge Open Championship at Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

Lennox, of Millsap, Texas, piloted Boon San Spoon (Hes A Peptospoonful x Boon San Kitty x High Brow Cat) to a 225 from the 11th draw in the 26-horse finals. The 6-year-old red roan mare, whose lifetime earnings going into the event exceeded $138,000, and her rider garnered $30,584 for their performance.

This title alone, which is Lennox’s first Open win at a Fort Worth major, pushes the 26-year-old trainer’s Equi-Stat record past the $600,000 mark. But he left little up to question when he also finished in a tie for seventh aboard Boon San Baby (Boon San x Stylish Baby Doll x SR Instant Choice), another of Walton’s homebred mares. The duo pocketed $9,188 for their 217.
