Rising to the top of the 32 experienced horses competing in the finals, the duo marked a 225 to take the Classic/Challenge Open Championship.

After scoring a 221.5 and 219 in the go-rounds, Galyean and the mare’s winning run earned a paycheck worth $23,191, adding to the 5-year-old mare’s current Equi-Stat record of $48,713. Reyboomsmall (Dual Rey x Kaboomsmall x Peptoboonsmal) is owned by breeder Kim Ezell, of Perrin, Texas.

Galyean, who recently surpassed the $3 million mark in Equi-Stat, is the only rider to record earnings in Equi-Stat aboard Reyboomsmall, who placed fifth in last year’s BI Derby Open to earn $17,560.

A score of 222.5 in the finals earned the Classic/Challenge Open Reserve Championship for Adan Banuelos, of Granbury, Texas, and Flat Baroque, who is owned by breeders Don and Carol Dewrell, of Gulf Breeze, Florida.

Their finals run produced a paycheck worth $19,185. This is the first check for Banuelos and Flat Baroque (Peptoboonsmal x Scooters Stylish Oak x Docs Stylish Oak) to post to Equi-Stat together. Banuelos, an Equi-Stat Elite $1 Million Rider, got three other horses back to the finals, where he earned a total of $39,329.
