Average Up At NCHA Super Stakes Sale

metallic-floNCHA Super Stakes Sale highest seller Metallic Flo • Jim Arnold photoMetallic Flo was the $60,000 highest seller at Western Bloodstock Ltd.’s National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Super Stakes Sale on April 18 at Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas. The sale’s net average of $11,341 on 76 horses sold represents a 7 percent increase over 2014 sale figures.

 

The top 10 sellers averaged $28,000, representing a 23 percent increase over last year’s top 10 sellers. The top 20 sellers averaged $22,150, a 22 percent increase over 2014. The percentage sold remained at 73 percent from 104 lots, with a gross average of $14,725.

Metallic Flo, a 3-year-old Metallic Cat daughter in training with T.J. Good, was consigned by Alan Chappell, of Gainesville, Texas, and purchased by Cody Erwin, of Vancouver, Washington.

Cancan Reyvolution, an 8-year-old gelding sired by Dual Rey, brought $40,000 as the sale’s second-highest seller. Cancan Reyvolution, the 2011 NCHA Derby Non-Pro Champion and an NCHA earner of $145,837, was purchased by Kent Arnold, DVM, of Terrell, Texas, from consignors John and Lica Pinkston, of Alice, Texas.

Purrfect Playgirl was the highest-selling 4-year-old at $25,500. The High Brow Cat daughter was in training with Bill Riddle at the time of the sale. She was consigned by Glenn Drake, of Napa, California, and sold to Juan Carlos Rengel Leon, of Valencia, Venezuela.

With a final bid of $22,000, Smart Metallic RG was the highest-selling stallion. The 4-year-old Metallic Cat son, who was in training with T.J. Good, was consigned by Mariposa Farms and purchased by Billy Gene Crenshaw, of Kountze, Texas.

The NCHA Summer Spectacular Sale, to be held Aug. 1 in Fort Worth, is the next sale on Western Bloodstock Ltd.’s agenda, followed by the Center Ranch Production Sale in Centerville, Texas, on Oct. 10 and the NCHA Futurity Sales in Fort Worth in December.
