NRHA Germany Easter Show Posts Increased Numbers

revolutionary-affairRevolutionary Affair, ridden by Alexander Ripper • Photo by Art & LightThe NRHA Germany Easter show was even more successful than last year, recording more than 800 entries the first weekend in April. Jackpot classes with more than 100 entries and Novice Horse classes with almost 80 entries made for the perfect start to the 2015 show season. The Bronze Trophys and the CRI***- qualifier for the FEI European Championships highlighted the show, and Open and non-pro riders from across Europe used the chance to test their horses for the new season.

What a fine start for multiple FEI European Champion Alexander Ripper! With Jurgen Maibaum’s Revolutionary Affair (Einsteins Revolution x Coronas Affair x Corona Cody) he claimed the first Bronze Trophy of the year in Germany, the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA)-approved Easter Trophy Open, scoring a 143.5. It was not the first Bronze Trophy for Ripper and Revolutionary Affair – they also won the 2014 Swiss Derby.

Volker Schmitt and Alexandra Melchert’s JSE Gunsnroses (PT) (Colonels Smoking Gun [Gunner] x Desert Rosebud [PT] x Like A Diamond [PT]) followed closely behind in second with a 143.

Grischa Ludwig did it again, winning the CRI*** in the senior division for the second consecutive year. This year, he scored a 220.5 aboard 7-year-old stallion Sharp Dressed Shiner for owner La Mesa Ranch.

“I’m so happy, ” Ludwig said. “This is a world-class horse, and I wanted so much to win this class, as it was the first CRI where they awarded Kay Wienrich’s new CRI Bronze Trophy. It is the most beautiful trophy in reining at the moment.”

Sharp Dressed Shiner might be a great horse for the FEI European Championships. The beautiful palomino is by Shining Spark out of the Smart Little Lena mare Smartly Dressed, and has more than $17,000 in NRHA lifetime earnings so far. Altogether, Ludwig had three horses in the CRI. He also placed fifth with Shine My Gun (Gunner x Shiners Mistress x Shining Spark) and 12th with Ruf Footwork (Footworks Finest x Jasmines Ruf Blonde).

Austrian Klaus Lechner and Julia Gaupmann‘s Cody Rooster Delmaso (Ricochet Rooster x Made Of Lacy x Topsail Cody) placed second with a score of 219.5. Lechner, 23, was one of the youngest riders in this division. He started his reining career as a youth exhibitor, and was part of the Austrian team for the FEI EC Young Riders in 2011. Two years ago, he was Austrian Reining Horse Association Futurity Open Level 1 Champion aboard his now 10-year-old stallion Cody Rooster Delmaso.

CRI *** Young Rider

The winner in the Young Riders Category was Fabienne Kramer and her 2006 stallion Dual Tuck Tari (Dual Chick Tari x Tuckers White Snip x Doc Tom Tucker), who scored a 215 in a field of five riders.
