What’s In A Name?

While interviewing Kaitlyn Wimberly at January’s Augusta Futurity and Classic, I just had to inquire about her mount’s registered name. It was simple. One word. Kat.

Kaitlyn told me, “I couldn’t believe it hadn’t been done before. My mom [Kris Martin] is all about those little one-word names.”

But with a three-letter registered name, I couldn’t wait to hear the 4-year-old mare’s barn name. It turned out to be twice as long – Fluffy.

“If you notice, her mane and tail are very fluffy, and trust me, she has a fluffy personality!” Kaitlyn said with a laugh.

My fellow writers and I really do love hearing the great stories that go along with horses’ names. If you have a tale you’d like to share with us, email it to [email protected].
