The Jockey Club Buys Controlling Interest In Blood-Horse Publications

In a deal expected to be finalized on Feb. 27, The Jockey Club has purchased 51 percent of Blood-Horse Publications from the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association, according to The Paulick Report.

The Jockey Club is the Thoroughbred bred registry for United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. According to its website, The Jockey Club, a non-profit organization, has created and developed a group of commercial, for-profit subsidiaries and a commercial partnership, each with a twofold purpose: to serve specific segments within the industry using highly efficient, state-of-the-art technology platforms and to generate profits that are used to support important industry initiatives. Blood-Horse Publications’ flagship publication is The Blood-Horse. Since its founding in 1916, the publication has blossomed into the Thoroughbred industry’s premier international weekly news and information magazine and website for racing and breeding.
