Minnesota CHA Breeder’s Incentive Futurity Offers Rich Payouts

PistolpackinBarmaid-webPistolpackin Barmaid and Greg BeutenmillerThe Minnesota Cutting Horse Association (MCHA) Breeder’s Incentive Limited-Age Event was held in conjunction with the MCHA Fall Festival of Cutting Oct. 10-12 in Winona, Minnesota. Pistolpackin Barmaid thrilled her first time-cutting owners, Bill and Jennifer Horton, by winning the MCHA Breeder’s Incentive Futurity and earning $4,355.

The pretty gray mare, sired by the enrolled stallion Guitar Gun, was ridden by Greg Beutenmiller. There was a tie for the Reserve Championship between Wild Haired N Cocky, ridden by Bob Janssen and owned by Anita Janssen, and The Copenhagen Cat, ridden by Seth Kirchner and owned by Rick Plendl.

The MCHA Breeder’s Incentive Program Limited-Age Event is restricted to offspring of enrolled stallions or mares. There were two go-rounds and a non-working finals, each paying equal amounts.

The 3-Year-Old Open purse was high this year, unfortunately due to the fact that there were no entries in the 3-Year-Old Non-Pro. It was the first time that there was not a Non-Pro class, and the Open entries were down significantly also. While the numbers may have been down, the quality of the horses shown was way up, as was the payback. It was a tough futurity.

He collected $3,319 for those wins. The Reserve Champion in the 4-Year-Old Derby Open was Somebodee Smart, ridden by Bob Janssen for owner Joann Yahnke.

Again this year, there was a nice return of Breeder’s Incentive horses for the 5/6-Year-Old Classic Open. The champion was NRR Stylish Cat, ridden by Tracy Barton for the North Ridge Ranch. The Reserve Champion was Chics Highway, sired by Smart Chicaway. He was ridden by Bob Janssen for owner Nancy Burke.

The 5/6-Year-Old Classic Non-Pro Champion was Sucseed, ridden and owned by Tom Holmes. Holmes owns the sire, WR Tams Peppy Cat and was pleased with how well his offspring did at the Breeder’s event.
