One Time Choice Wins Mercuria Open At The All American Quarter Horse Congress

In the Oct. 9 finals, Turner and One Time Choice marked a 229 to take the Championship and earn $10,978.

This dynamic team has had their share of success in the show pen. NCHA Open World Champion One Time Choice (One Time Pepto x Hickory Choice x SR Instant Choice) has carried Turner to multiple wins around the country. As of Oct. 10, One Time Choice is leading the NCHA Open World standings as she tries to repeat as World Champion in 2014.

The 2007 mare, owned by J Five Horse Ranch, of Weatherford, Texas, is the only money-earner out of Hickory Choice and is the fifth leading money-earner sired by One Time Pepto. According to Equi-Stat, One Time Choice has lifetime earnings of $155,335.

Lizzys Gotta Babe (Lizzys Gotta Player x Moms Stylish Babe x Docs Stylish Oak) carried trainer Adan Banuelos to the Congress Mercuria Open Reserve Championship with a 225. They earned $8,234 for their efforts. Lizzys Gotta Babe previously won the Mercuria Open at the El Rancho Futurity with Morgan Cromer in the saddle. The 8-year-old mare is owned by Tim and Missy Drummond, of Pawhuska, Okla., had earnings of $51,049.

Mercuria Non-Pro

Equi-Stat Elite $1 Million Rider Joe Howard Williamson rode his 2007 gelding Acatbequick (High Brow Cat x KD Shorty x Kit Dual) to win the Mercuria/NCHA World Series of Cutting Non-Pro Championship. Marking a 224 in the finals, Williamson, of Wichita Falls, Texas, took home a check for $11,254.

Acatbequick, bred by Elizabeth Quirk, of Weatherford, Texas, boosted his lifetime earnings to $185,021 with this win. He is the leading money-earner out of his dam, KD Shorty (Kit Dual x Shorty Lena Sue x Shorty Lena).

The Mercuria Non-Pro Reserve Championship went to Lauren Chartier, of Weatherford, Texas, and Cees Little Poo (SR Instant Choice x Perry Poo x Perry San), bred by Bar H Ranche, also of Weatherford. The duo marked a 220.5 and earned a check for $8,441. Cees Little Poo, owned by Robert Middleton, of Flora, Miss., has earned $220,179 in his lifetime. Chartier’s lifetime earnings are now $477,594.
