Tammy Hays & Miss Prize Maker Win NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Non-Pro Preliminary Rein Work

TammyHaysReinTammy Hays & Miss Prize MakerThe second leg of preliminary competition, the rein work, wrapped up for National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) Snaffle Bit Futurity Non-Pro competitors Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Reno Livestock Events Center.

Tammy Hays, aboard Miss Prize Maker (Topsails Rien Maker x Miss Colonels Prize x Smokums Prize) worked her way to a 219 to win the go-round. She earned a $1,400 paycheck and a custom Gist buckle. Hays and Miss Prize Maker are in ninth place in the Futurity Non-Pro composite after two events.

The composite leader in the Non-Pro and the Intermediate Non-Pro is Eric Freitas, who rode Maverick Rey (Dual Rey x Shiners Goldilocks x Shining Spark) to a combined 428 (215 herd/213 rein).

Intermediate Non-Pro

The high-scoring rein work in the Intermediate Non-Pro belonged to Molly Russell, who rode Sister Siena (Doc At Night x Sierras Lullabye x Had A Larrabee) to a 218. That score also put Russell second in the Non-Pro rein work. She collected two paychecks totaling $2,050.

Novice Non-Pro

In the Novice Non-Pro division, Jennifer Neel maneuvered Z Martinalena (Zezes Pepto Cat x Fussy Hanky x Lotsolena) to a 216.5, which put her in the go-round money in all three divisions – Non-Pro, Intermediate Non-Pro and Novice Non-Pro. Neel’s triple payday added up to $1,450.

The Novice composite leader is SDP Blu Rey (TR Dual Rey x Sues Lil Dusty x Meradas Blue Sue), shown by Bart Holowath. Their total on two events is 427.5 (213 herd/214.5 rein).


Wilder Jones topped both the rein work round and the composite in the Amateur division. He rode Magicat (Metallic Cat x Magical Lena x Little Lenas Legend) to a 216, which earned a check in the Amateur, Novice Non-Pro and Intermediate Non-Pro – $1,200 in all. With his earlier 209 herd work score, Jones holds the composite lead with a 425.

Non-Pro Limited

In the Non-Pro Limited division, a pair of 209.5 scores topped the results sheet. The first belonged to Under Lights (CD Lights x Shiners Missy Jay x Shining Spark), shown by Erin Russell. An identical score went to Lisa Stewart and Flow N Pretty Boon (Pretty Boy Boon x Lena Over Flow x Lena My Way). Each took home $300.
