2014 AQHA/NCHA Weekend Locations Announced

aqha-ncha-weekendThe National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA), along with the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), is pleased to announce the 2014 AQHA/NCHA Cutting Weekend locations that will host three days of fun-filled cutting action for weekend cutters. The shows kick off May 30 and run through June 1 at 25 select locations across the United States.

AQHA/NCHA weekend historically hosts the largest weekend competitions of the year with many locations offering live music, cookouts and more family-oriented activities as well as increased payouts. As an added bonus, AQHA/NCHA Weekend cutters have the chance to qualify for the AQHA World Championship Show, which annually provides a tremendous value opportunity for cutters with great purses and a run at a coveted world championship trophy.

“AQHA/NCHA Weekend is one of the most important events of the year because it highlights weekend cutters,” NCHA Executive Director Jim Bret Campbell said. “As always, we are excited to partner with AQHA on what we know will be a successful weekend of great cutting competitions across the nation. We look forward to cheering those qualifying competitors on at the 2014 AQHA World Show.”

New this year, AQHA is allowing these events to be double judged (two AQHA judges concurrently during one cutting run), which will allow for competitors to receive double points. Competitors should check with their area directors to find which AQHA/NCHA weekend locations will offer this double judging system.

Last year’s AQHA/NCHA Weekend awarded more than 200 amateur points and approximately 160 open points to weekend cutters, which made them eligible for a shot at the $41,000 in Amateur payouts and more than $80,000 in Open money awarded at the 2013 AQHA World Show. A pinnacle event that attracts thousands of competitors and their American Quarter Horses each year to vie for thousands in winnings, The AQHA World Show, will be Nov. 7-22 in Oklahoma City.
