Ashley Flynn & Cow Scents Take 4-Year-Old Non-Pro Title In Abilene

AFlynn 13Ashley FlynnThe Abilene Spectacular kicked off another day of finals on Thurs., Jan. 9 in Abilene, Texas. The 4-Year-Old Non-Pro finals saw 10 competitors, but it was Weatherford, Texas, resident Ashley Flynn and Cow Scents who took the Championship. As the fourth draw, Flynn rode into the herd aboard Cow Scents, a 2013 Valentine’s Day present from her husband, Sean, and marked a 218 for the Championship. Flynn’s scores had only improved with each go round, having marked a 214.5 in the first go and a 216 in the second go. Their win earned them a paycheck worth $10,000.

“He’s a special horse,” she said of ‘Shorty’. “He’s just a really neat horse. He’s really easy to cut on.”

The Co-Reserve Championship went to Brad Rogers, of Madill, Okla., with Precious Metallic, and Armando Costa Neto, of Weatherford, Texas, with Ms Regret. Both competitors marked a score of 215 to share the title, and they earned paychecks worth $8,000. Rogers also piloted Highly Tempted to earn a finalist check for $1,895, and Neto rode Arosefirst to earn an additional finalist check for $3,250.
