Taris Little Vintage webTaris Little VintageWith results of the 2013 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Derby now official, the Association is pleased to announce that NRHA Hall of Fame inductee Taris Little Vintage has become NRHA’s All-Time Leading Dam based on offspring earnings. Her progeny have earned $672,900 in NRHA competition.

Taris Little Vintage (Peppy San Badger x Taris Vintage x Doc Tari) has NRHA Lifetime Earnings (LTE) of $48,700, and was third in the 1994 NRHA Futurity Open with NRHA Million Dollar Rider Dell Hendricks. She is the only mare to have produced two NRHA Futurity Champions: Hollywood Vintage (by NRHA Six Million Dollar Sire and Hall of Fame Inductee Hollywood Dun It) and Taris Designer Genes (by 1998 NRBC Champion Mr Boomerjac). She produced 10 other NRHA money earners including Taris Modern Design (by Mr Boomerjac, $87,000 NRHA LTE), Vintage Boom (by Mr Boomerjac, $80,800 NRHA LTE) and Taris Favorite Trick (by Mr Boomerjac, $55,700 NRHA LTE).

The 1991 mare’s most recent money earners include FS Vintage Sidekick and Taris Little Whiz. FS Vintage Sidekick, a 2008 gelding by Starbucks Sidekick, qualified for the 2013 NRHA Derby Non-Pro finals with owner Rita Harris. Taris Little Whiz (by NRHA Nine Million Dollar Sire and Hall of Fame Inductee Topsail Whiz) added more money to the total after being shown by Dell Hendricks at the 2013 Kentucky Reining Cup held during the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event. The 2007 mare is owned by Crew Reining Horses, LLC.

In 2011, Loren Booth of Booth Ranches purchased Taris Little Vintage from Bill and Patty Fingland. When asked about the accomplishment, Loren said, “At Booth Ranches, it is all about the mares! Tari is such an example of this statement. Bred to different stallions, she continues to produce offspring that are competitive in today’s world of reining. She was a talented performer herself and a gritty mare that made it look easy. She passed those traits on, again and again. What an honor for all of us at Booth Ranches to own her, be able to spoil her at this stage in her life and to be a part of her legend.”

Loren continued, “Congratulations to Taris Little Vintage from your family at Booth Ranches. Thank you to all of those who have helped her achieve such success along the way, and specifically to those who had great success on her offspring. Randy Paul, Tracer Gilson, Andrea Fappani and Dell Hendricks have all ridden Tari’s offspring to great success to help her reach this honorable title. We are so proud of your accomplishment.”

In the number two spot on the list of producing dams is another NRHA Hall of Fame inductee, Collena Chic Olena (by NRHA Six Million Dollar Sire and Hall of Fame Inductee Smart Chic Olena x Collena Freckles) with offspring earnings of $667,800. Though deceased, her legacy continues via her offspring’s successes. Her last recorded owner was Monica Watson’s Double Run Farm, Leland, N.C. Collena Chic Olena’s show career included a top 10 finish at the 1998 Futurity and earnings of more than $7,400.

She is the dam of three money-earning offspring: NRHA Hall of Fame Inductee and NRHA Highest Money Earner Wimpys Little Chic (by NRHA Five Million Dollar Sire and Hall of Fame Inductee Wimpys Little Step) – $514,800 NRHA LTE; 2006 NRHA Futurity Open Reserve Champion Collenas Finest Tafy (by Footworks Finest) – $133,000 NRHA LTE; and a 2006 gelding, Collenas Little Wimp (by Wimpys Little Step) – $20,000 NRHA LTE.
