After a short hospital stay, Linda Pape, 72, passed away on April 30 at the Hospice of Dayton. A celebration of life will be held at Stonewall Farm, Wilmington, Ohio from 5 to 8pm on Friday, May 10.
Linda and her late husband, John, owned and operated Stonewall Farm. They bred, raised, owned and were associated with many superstars in the reining world. For instance they owned Gun Start, sire of many NRHA money earners including RWD Start, the 1987 NRHA Reserve Champion who went on to become the 1988 Open World Champion. RWD Start was ridden by Rocky Dare, as was the 1993 Open World Champion Sun Dappled, a mare bred, raised and owned by the Papes.
In 1990, Linda proudly accepted awards received when Enterprise Lady was inducted into the NRHA Hall of Fame. This mare is the matriarch of three generations of Hall of Fame horses. She produced Be Aech Enterprise who sired Trashadeous.
According to Equi-Stat, the Papes bred horses that earned $370,013 in NRHA events. They include such favorites as Mark Him Eighty, Certain Truffles, A New Rolls Royce, Diamond Dappled and many more.
At her time of death, Linda was still breeding, foaling and raising winners. She was a woman who loved her horses and she will be missed in the reining community.
