Taylor Carbo, 20, and his 6-year-old stallion Moms Stilish Cat continued a hot run that started last summer by returning to Fort Worth’s Will Rogers Coliseum and marking a 222.5 to win Saturday’s Classic Limited Non-Pro finals at the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Super Stakes.

Carbo and Moms Stilish Cat won the 2012 NCHA Summer Spectacular Amateur title that July in Fort Worth with a 222, soon after he bought the horse. The stallion and Weatherford, Texas, trainer Clint Allen were Co-Reserve Champions at the 2008 NCHA Super Stakes to earn $60,823.

The Classic Limited Non-Pro victory, worth $6,660, pushed Carbo’s career earnings over the $100,000 mark. Moms Stilish Cat (High Brow Cat x Moms Stylish Pepto x Peptonboonmal), bred and originally owned by Jerry Durant, Weatherford, Texas, has earned slightly less than $160,000 with several months remaining in his limited-age career.

Carbo, Plaquemine, La., and his cutting mentor, Stephenville, Texas trainer Jeremy Barwick, have consistently made finals with the horse in Open, Amateur and Non-Pro divisions. Moms Stlish Cat and his two riders have earned about $50,000 so far this year.

Reserve Champion Donna Flannagan, 57, Livermoore, Calif., celebrated her birthday on her 6-year-old homebred mare This Kats Cool (WR This Cats Smart x Smoken C Start x Charlies Starlight). They led the first set with a 222 and nearly held on for the win. This was the first time Flannagan had competed at a Fort Worth cutting. This Kats Kool previously earned $115,103 while competing well at West Coast cuttings with Flannagan and occasional Open riders since her 3-year-old season.
