NRHA Cancels 2013 Cowtown Classic

cowtown-classicThe National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Board of Directors met on April 8 to discuss the 2013 NRHA Cowtown Classic and recent information brought to their attention regarding changes made to Texas Event Trust Fund policies. In light of these changes, the Board of Directors decided to cancel the 2013 event.

Previously, the Board decided against renewing contracts for future Cowtown events. The NRHA apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause to NRHA members making plans to attend the 2013 NRHA Cowtown Classic.

The NRHA appreciates the support of the City of Fort Worth and the State of Texas. With their help, the event ranked fourth among 2011 and 2012 NRHA Leading Events and paid out nearly $900,000 to NRHA members. In addition, the NRHA hosted its first Novice Horse Derby and tested the 4D reining concept in Fort Worth.
