Previously owned by Gus and Gaynia Revenberg, Old Castle, Ontario, the career earner of more than $225,000 will remain in training with Equi-Stat Elite $5 Million Rider Shawn Flarida.

“It’s bittersweet,” Flarida said about the sale. “The Revenbergs have been nothing but supportive and kind. They’re just wonderful people to work for.

“I’m happy that I get to keep him and show him. It’s always fun to work for new people.”

Quistador was Flarida’s third highest-earning mount of 2012. His accomplishments for the year include tying for fifth at the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Derby and making the Level 4 Open finals at the National Reining Breeders Classic (NRBC).

This year, the stallion, bred by Joe Hayes, Gainesville, Texas, was the Reserve Champion at the Bluegrass Reining Stakes in both the Gordyville Breeders Cup and Wimpys Little Step Level 4 Open derbies. Most recently, they were finalists in the Level 4 Open at the NRBC after tying to win the first go.

“We haven’t really sat down and talked about his plans yet, but his show career will continue,” said Flarida.
