Broodmare Tops Marketplace At Ardmore Sale

BoonlightsMeradaBoonlights Merada was the second-highest seller. Photo by Midge AmesThe Marketplace at Ardmore, a consignment auction for performance horses, held its spring sale on March 30, at the Hardy Murphy Coliseum in Ardmore, Okla.

Sale manager Susie Reed said, “We are really happy with the sale results and the fact we sold a whopping 86 percent. We had a good cross section of buyers in attendance with many from out of state, Mexico, Venezuela and Canada.”

The top 10 head averaged $16,265, the top 20 averaged $12,182 and the overall average was $4,989.

Clays Little Kit (LTE $228,195) topped the sale at $27,000. Consigned by D Ring Ranch, this 1993 sorrel mare by Zack T Wood and out of Clays Little Peppy is producer of offspring earning in excess of $250,444 including I Sho Expensive (LTE $137,419) and was purchased by Don and Kathy Boone.

The second and third highest sellers were both sired by Boonlight Dancer. Boonlights Merada (LTE $33,427), consigned by Jarrett Callahan bought $25,000. This 2003 red roan stallion out of Meradas Last was purchased by Michael McKay. Dancers First Cutting, a 2009 sorrel mare and full sister to Third Cutting, was a close third highest seller at $24,250. Dancers First Cuttin was consigned by Ronnie Pruitt and purchased by Don and McSherry Weber.
