Mandy McCutcheon And Customized Gunner Crowned Champions at the Cactus Reining Classic


MandyMcCutcheon Tulsa11Mandy McCutcheon This year at the Cactus Reining Classic, held March 5-10 in Scottsdale, Ariz., horse and rider teams have come from all over to prove they have what it takes to walk out of the show pen winners.



During the Derby Non-Pro, one team held up their end of the challenge, winning top honors after scoring a 223.5. The Championship went to Mandy McCutcheon, Tioga, Texas, and Customized Gunner (Colonels Smoking Gun [Gunner] x Custom Made Dunit x Hollywood Dun It), who is owned and bred by McQuay Stables Inc.

The duo also won the 2012 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Futurity Non-Pro Co-Championship worth $40,170. 

Tish Fappani, San Marcos, Calif., won the Reserve Championship with a 220 aboard ARC Spark It Up (Custom Crome x Sailing Spark x Shining Spark). The 2009 sorrel is owned by Sue Wood, Fort Valley, Ore., and bred by Arcese Quarter Horses, Weatherford, Texas.
