NCHA Eastern Nationals Start Monday

01 EasternSignMT3The annual National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Eastern National Championships, featuring competition for any-age horses and Open, Non-Pro, Amateur and Youth riders, begins Monday, March 4, at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds in Jackson, Miss., and continues through March 16.

According to the NCHA, as a precaution, all horse stalls at the show site have been treated with SynBioNt agricultural wash, partly due to a recent reported Equine Herpes Virus (EHV-1) outbreak in Florida.

A horse who competed at last month’s Horse Shows In the Sun (HITS) event in Ocala, Fla., was referred to the University of Florida after showing neurological signs of the virus on Feb. 20. The horse subsequently tested positive for EHV-1 wild type. The horse remains in stable condition while receiving treatments at the university.
