Clint Allen, Stacie and David McDavid, and Jason ClarkClint Allen, cutting’s top Open rider in 2011 and an earner of about $3.5 million the past 11 years, has teamed up with David and Stacie McDavid, Fort Worth, Texas, Equi-Stat’s fifth-ranked cutting owners during the 2012 season.
Allen had worked from a base at the Silverado on the Brazos in Weatherford, Texas, for clients including Silverado owner Jerry Durant the past two years. He started training from a base owned by the McDavids, also located in Weatherford, and near Lake Weatherford, this week. Neil Roger has taken over as Durant’s lead trainer.
Jason Clark had served as the McDavid’s main cutting trainer about three years. He recently accepted a job working with Dallas venture capitalist and cutting horse owner/breeder Darren Blanton. Clark had trained horses for Blanton in the past. He rejoined his former boss in a new training and horse management position, following Blanton’s recent purchase of the all-time top cutting sire High Brow Cat.
