Mary Ann Rapp, Reyzin Top Bonanza 4-Year-Old Non-Pro

Reyzin and Mary Ann Rapp made their third straight finals and earned their second title since early January by topping Wednesday’s Bonanza Cutting 4-Year-Old Non-Pro finals with a 222.5 to earn $13,692 at the Glen Rose, Texas show.

The mare (High Brow CD x Miss Reycine x Dual Rey), bred and co-owned by Mary Ann and her husband, Weatherford, Texas cutting trainer Phil Rapp, had carried Mary Ann to last month’s Abilene Spectacular 4-Year-Old Non-Pro title with a 219 to earn $12,160 in West Texas. The pair made the Futurity Non-Pro finals at late January’s Augusta Futurity in Augusta, Ga., too, giving them three finals, after missing the big money during their late-fall debut at the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity in Fort Worth.

Rapp and Reyzin are likely to compete one more time before heading back to Fort Worth, Texas, for early spring’s NCHA Super Stakes limited-age big money cutting.

Kelle Earnheart, Weatherford, Texas, and her mare Flash About (Pretty Boy Flash x Play Miss x Playgun) took the early lead with a 222 form a No. 4 draw in the 19-horse, two set finals. That score help up to earn the Reserve title and $10,953.

Rapp and her consistent finalist gelding Hillbilly Handfishin (Autumn Acre x Little Red Bet x Smart Little Lena) also reached the finals and earned another big check with a 215.
