CR Sun Reys Shines in Bonanza 5/6-Year-Old Open for Boyd Rice and Center Ranch

crsunreys_boydriceConsistency was the name of the game for CR Sun Reys at The Bonanza in Glen Rose, Texas, on Feb. 8-10. Ridden by Equi-Stat Elite $4 Million Rider Boyd Rice, the 5-year-old mare turned in three solid runs, culminating with a 223 performance in the finals to win the 5/6-Year-Old Classic Open on Sunday evening.

Owned by Center Ranch, CR Sun Reys (Dual Rey x Play Peek A Boon x Freckles Playboy) won the first go on Feb. 8 with a 223, then returned the next day to finish third in the second go with a 220.5. As the third horse in the herd in the first set of finals, CR Sun Reys set the bar high. Her score held, with Phil Rapp and Louis and Corliss Baldwin’s Lahaina Lena marking 221 early in the second set to take the Reserve Championship.
