Ashley Snider & Sly Chance Pick Up Another Win At Arbuckle

AshleySnider SlyChanceAshley Snider and Sly ChanceThe Arbuckle Mountain Futurity took place in Ardmore, Okla., Feb. 18-25. Sly Chance (That Sly Cat x Oaks Smart Chance x Doc’s Oak) carried Ashley Snider, Lipan, Texas, to a 224 in the 5/6-Year-Old Non-Pro for the win. The duo took home $13,089 for their performance.

Snider used to share “General” with her husband, Jaime, who also co-owns the horse, but this year Sly Chance is set to only compete in the Non-Pro. With success at the season’s first limited-age shows under her belt, Snider is excited about the rest of the year.

4-Year-Old Non-Pro

After a successful year with Cat In The Night as a 3-year-old, Dianna Helm has returned in 2013 to win the Arbuckle 4-Year-Old Non-Pro. Helm and her 2009 gelding (Cat Ichi x Jewel In The Night x Grays Starlight) grabbed a check for $9,029 after marking a 220 in the finals.

Helm also picked up the Reserve title with her and husband Bill’s horse Boons Playin. She marked a 219, which also won the duo the 4-Year-Old Novice Horse Non-Pro Championship.

4-Year-Old Open

Beau Galyean piloted Peyotee to a win worth $20,000 in the 4-Year-Old Open. The duo scored a 220 on the horse he and wife Ashley own.

Paul Waters rode JJs Catless Merada (Cats Merada x Madelena x Smart Little Lena) to a $2,777 check in the 4-Year-Old Limited Open with a go-round composite of 434.5.

5/6-Year-Old Open

Once In A Blu Boon (Peptoboonsmal x Autumn Boon x Dual Pep) carried James Payne to their second major title at the Arbuckle Futurity. The duo topped the 2012 4-Year-Old Open and secured the 5/6-Year-Old Open Championship this year with a 224 worth $15,000.

Michael Baker and Canducat (Smooth As A Cat x Candualena x Dual Pep) won the 5/6-Year-Old Limited Open with a go-round composite 431 for $2,291.

4-Year-Old Amateur

Bill Helm won the 4-Year-Old $50,000 Amatuer aboard Boons Playin with a 218 for $1,375. Helm co-owns the horse with his wife, Dianna, who was the 4-Year-Old Non-Pro Reserve Champion with Boons Playin.

5/6-Year-Old Amateur

Michelle Reichart piloted CD To The Max (CD Olena x Max Donna x Dual Pep) to the 5/6-Year-Old Amateur Championship with a 219. The duo picked up $1,434 for their effort. They were also finalists in the 5/6-Year-Old Unlimited Amateur.

4-Year-Old Unlimited Amateur

ATM Wild Haired Cat (Wild Haired Cat x Another Tornado Mate x Smart Mate) carried owner Dan Churchill to a 215 in the 5/6-Year-Old Unlimited Amateur for the win worth $3,042.

5/6-Year-Old Unlimited Amateur

Robert Fullwood rode 2007 gelding Catmerize (High Brow Cat x Merada Missy x Freckles Merada) to a 221 to win the 5/6-Year-Old Amateur by a 3 1/2-point margin. They won $3,333 for their performance.
