
The American Stock Horse Association and the Mustang Heritage Foundation are proud to announce “Maverick” as the 2012 Top American Stock Horse Association Mustang. Maverick is owned by Tony Riley of Denton, Texas, trained and shown by Teryn Muench of Marietta, Okla.
Maverick will be awarded a handmade Martin Saddlery Mustang Edition Saddle for his accomplishment. Maverick and Muench excelled and earned the most points of all Mustangs in the nation nominated into the program. The team competed in ASHA versatile stock horse events and exhibited proficiency in Pleasure, Trail, Reining and Cow Horse classes.
The Saddle will be awarded to Teryn and Tony at the Mustang Magic event held at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo on Jan. 24-26, 2013. This rendition of the Extreme Mustang Makeover competition will feature 20 wild Mustangs and trainers who were invited from across the country to compete for a purse of $10,000 through Handling & Conditioning, Compulsory Maneuvers, Trail and Reining Pattern classes and a Freestyle Finals performance. At the conclusion of the competition all competing Mustangs will be up for adoption by the public on Saturday, January 26th.
The American Stock Horse Association and the Mustang Heritage partnered to recognize and reward the top point-earning BLM Mustang competing in the 2012 ASHA competitions. All Mustangs carrying a Bureau of Land Management freezemark, registered with the American Stock Horse Association and nominated for the award were eligible to compete for the Top American Stock Horse Association Mustang Award.
The American Stock Horse Association promotes the versatile horse, education, western heritage and is open to all breeds. ASHA provides a fun atmosphere where the rider can learn and practice skills and use the skills they acquire to show their horse.
