As far as I am concerned, lack of preparation is the root of all evil when it comes to achieving peak performance. There is little else that will cause more anxiety than entering an important event feeling unprepared. Sometimes, however, we may use "preparation" as a crutch or an excuse to never get started at all. If you are stuck in the preparation stage, it may be time to start before you are ready.

Tammy Jo Hays won her second consecutive National Reined Cow Horse Association Premier Event title when she piloted Two Kitties (Smooth As A Cat x SR Jaguar x Doc O'Lena) to the Hackamore Classic Non-Pro Championship Friday, May 3 in Pueblo, Colo., barely a month after claiming the NRCHA Stakes Non-Pro win in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A Spoonful O Sugar and Chris DawsonChris Dawson's charmed show season continued at the National Reined Cow Horse Association Hackamore Classic in Pueblo, Colo., when he won the Open Championship aboard Cryin Coyote Ranch's A Spoonful O Sugar (Hes A Peptospoonful x Poco Smokum Oak x Smokum Oak) and took the Reserve Championship aboard his own horse, Travelin Jonez (Smart Chic Olena x Travelin With Sass x Travalena).
Purina Pledges $125,000 to A Home For Every Horse

Purina Animal Nutrition has pledged up to $150,000 in free feed to rescue shelters through its continuing partnership with A Home for Every Horse, a program dedicated to finding homes for horses in need of adoption or fostering. For the second year in a row, Purina has pledged a base donation of $125,000. From April 16, 2013 to August 21, 2013, Purina will donate an additional $1 for every new “Like” or “Share” it receives through Facebook, up to $25,000, for a potential total of $150,000 in free feed.

Colorado State University’s eighth annual Legends of Ranching Performance Horse Sale was the largest in the event’s history, with an offering of 79 American Quarter Horses, and the sale generated $295,000 in proceeds, organizers said.
