Photo by WaltenberryThe highlight of the Carolina Classic show, held at the Senator Bob Martin Agriculture Center, May 16-19, Williamston, N.C., was definitely the Carolina Classic Derby held in conjunction with the Atlantic Breeders Incentive (ABI) Derby. Each Derby had three Open divisions. Martina Morell, riding Dun Gotta Prize (Dun It Gotta Gun x Senorita Enterprise x Be Aech Enterprise) for Leigh Garber, Cazenovia, N.Y., scored a 225.5 to win all six open divisions offered.

That was the score that appeared on the score board when Austrian Tina Kuenstner-Mantl and Nu Chexomatic (Nu Chex To Cash x Tejons Texie Lena x Tejons Peppy Doc) walked through the out gate of the Salone del Cavallo Reining Arena in Reggio Emilia.

This year, the Carolina Classic Derby, run concurrently with the Atlantic Breeders Incentive (ABI) Derby, was a one go-round event. That set the stage for someone to score big and do extremely well. Bundy Lane did just that.

Update From The NRHA Board Of Directors

Following the May 6, 2013 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Board of Directors meeting it was brought to their attention that the motion which named Beth Himes the interim Executive Director may not have complied with NRHA’s bylaws. Therefore, on May 16, 2013 the NRHA Board of Directors held a conference call to consider the previous motion.
