About this section
Gunnatrashya and Shawn Flarida
It’s been one amazing trajectory for the reining industry, and the 22nd annual edition of the Quarter Horse News/Equi-Stat Reining Statistical Review reflects that trend. Charts on the following pages reveal the leading horses, riders, owners, breeders, sires and dams that proved most prominent in the reining industry during the 2010 season.
In 2000, reining horses maneuvered to $4,996,323. Last year, the total purse was $12,497,450 – a 150 percent increase in just a decade’s time. What’s more, reining payouts in 2010 were higher than they were in 2009, an upward move that proved to be difficult to attain in many sectors of the performance horse world.
There are 35 1/2 pages in this review, most of which are filled with charts ranking the leaders, according to money won in the reining arena during the 2010 season, including regular purse money and incentives. For the first time, the statistics include a special weekend-only section. Also, Quarter Horse News provided four features, highlighting a number of the industry’s most successful individuals in 2010. |
