Rosanne Sternberg of the United Kingdom made history at this year’s NRHA Derby when her reining horses surpassed $1 million dollars in NRHA Lifetime Earnings. Sternberg, the owner of Sterling Ranch USA located in Aubrey, Texas, is only the fourth owner in NRHA history to reach this elite milestone. She shares this status with Lance Griffin, DeWinton, Alberta, Canada; Tim McQuay, Tioga, Texas; and Arcese Quarter Horses, USA, Weatherford, Texas. 

At the NRHA Derby in June, Sternberg’s horses won nearly $20,000, boosting her official NRHA lifetime owner earnings to $1,014,262. Her top Derby earners included Level 4 and Level 3 Open division finalists Shiners Chic and Plum Tinseled with Brad Giesbrecht aboard, and Pop Top Whiz, who qualified for all four divisions of the NRHA Derby Non-Pro finals with her daughter, Jessica Sternberg, at the reins.

Sternberg has guided the careers of many top NRHA performers including international star Smart Spook. The 9-year-old stallion has more than $371,535 in earnings and was the 2004 NRHA Futurity Champion, 2005 NRHA Derby Champion, 2005 American Quarter Horse Association World Show Junior Reining Champion and three-time FEI World Reining Masters Open Champion and three-time FEI World Reining Masters Restricted Open Champion with top riders Shawn Flarida and Rudi Kronsteiner aboard.

Other notable performers owned by Sternberg include Tinsel Nic, NRHA Futurity finalist, 2005 AQHA World Show Senior Reining Champion, FEI World Reining Masters Open Champion, Setting Off Sparks, NRHA Futurity finalist, FEI World Reining Masters Restricted Open Champion), Whizin Off Sparks, 2008 AQHA World Championship Show Senior Reining Reserve Champion) and Nijomi Sonny Reb.

Sternberg, who is a non-pro competitor, began showing in NRHA competition in 1990 and currently has more than $86,000 in lifetime earnings. Aboard her own horses, she has been an NRHA Derby, NRHA European Championship and National Reining Breeder’s Classic finalist as well as a representative for the United Kingdom at the 2002 World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Jerez, Spain, and the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany.
