Great Sun Burst and Bernard Fonck
Europe’s best horses and riders showcased the sport of reining at the 2010 NRHA European Affiliate Championship (EAC) held June 30-July 4 at the CS Ranch in Givrins, Switzerland.
NRHA World Champion, Bernard Fonck, Belgium, not only made it to the winners circle in the Open; he claimed the top three placings. Riding Roy De Bruin’s Great Sun Burst, Fonck scored a 227.5 for the EAC Open Championship. Aboard Sail On Top Whizard, owned by Danny Cerato, he claimed Reserve honors with a score of 225.5. His third mount, BA Reckless Chick, posted a score of 222.5 for third place.
Earning the Intermediate Non-Pro Championship was young Tammy Greaves of Great Britain aboard The Magic Of Whiz, owned by Pat Greaves. Reserve honors went to Susanna Oczko, Austria, riding her Wheeling Doll. The Intermediate Open Championship was claimed by Gregory Legrand of France riding New Doc Peppy Cat, owned by Julien Lagrand. Reserve Champions in this division were Michael Saupe and Jacs Little Playboy, owned by Doris Winter.
Winning the Limited Non Pro Championship in a field of 31 competitors was Corinna Schumacher aboard her Nimble Star Wars. The Reserve Championship went to Birgit Wenninger of Germany and her Nu Redsklena Delmaso.
It took a run-off to determine the Youth 13 & Under Champions. Gina Maria Schumacher of Switzerland, riding Corinna Schumacher’s Poco Ruf Peppy, and Alissa Leloux of France, riding her Little Smart Jameen, had both scored a 209. Once they went back into the pen, Gina Maria marked a 212.5 to win the title.
Leloux also went on to claim the Co-Reserve Championship in the Youth 14-18, which she shared with Jordanne Dejonkheere, Netherands, aboard Smart Tazman. The Championship in this division was earned by Emily Scott, Great Britain, and Enterprizing Footwork.
