August 25, 2011 - The USDA recently published in the Federal Register its outline for the proposed rule for the mandatory identification and documentation of livestock moving interstate. This would mean new identification procedures and veterinary inspections on individual animals crossing state lines. Taking horses from Texas to Oklahoma or California to Nevada, this would impact you. Shipping cattle from one state to a rodeo or show in another state, this would impact you.
Comments for the proposed rule will be accepted until Nov. 9. Send comments to Docket No. APHIS-2009-0091, Regulatory Analysis and Development, PPD, APHIS, Station 3A-03.8, 4700 River Road, Unit 118, Riverdale, MD 20737-1238.
