The public is invited to the show’s opening on Saturday, Aug. 11. Many of the contributing artists will be at the opening ready to discuss their pieces. The opening is 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum and will feature live music, hors d'œuvres and cocktails.
The signature piece for the 2012 show is a drawing by renowned Western artist Mary Ross Buchholz, who was selected as the Signature Artist for this year's show. The piece is titled “He Knows His Job.” (Read the Quarter Horse News feature on Buchholz, "Drawn to Horses," and see more of her artwork by clicking here.)
Each piece of art – ranging from pencil drawings to sculptures – will be available for purchase on opening night. All remaining pieces will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning at 8 a.m. CDT on Aug. 13.
Proceeds from the sale of the art will go to the Hall of Fame to support its efforts to preserve the history of the American Quarter Horse.
