no048258.tbThe Non Pro Cutting Horse event is holding an online stallion service auction, which continues through March 6. Each year, the event offers breedings to a number of the best stallions in the industry. Proceeds from the auction allows The Non Pro to give cash bonuses to the Champion and Reserve Champion riders of the Non-Pro and Amateur divisions held during the event. The Non Pro + The Open is scheduled for June 8-15 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Farewell to Zack T. Wood Jr., 83, longtime executive director of the NCHA, who passed away on Saturday, Feb. 13. Services are scheduled for 3 p.m. on Sat., Feb. 20 at Holy Apostles Episcopal Church, located at 3900 Longvue Ave in Fort Worth. A reception immediately follows the service.

Prior winners Phil Rapp, 40, and Chad Bushaw, 36, both of Weatherford, Texas, received Equi-Stat Awards as cutting’s top 2009 Open and Non-Pro cutters, respectively, at the Augusta Futurity in Augusta, Ga., on Jan. 30. Equi-Stat and Quarter Horse News sponsor the award. Quarter Horse News Publisher Patty Tiberg presented Rapp and Bushaw with their awards in Augusta during the Saturday evening performance.
