Wagonhound Land & Livestock Co. joined the National Reined Cow Horse Association as a Breeder Sponsor in late August, according to NRCHA Sponsor Committee Chairman Bob Avila. "We are proud to have Wagonhound come on board as part of the NRCHA Breeder Sponsor family," Avila said. "It's a prestigious operation and we are glad to partner with them in the reined cow horse industry."
Named for a creek that runs through it, Wagonhound Land and Livestock is a 150,000-acre ranch headquartered 20 miles south of Douglas, Wyo., along the Laramie Range of the Rocky Mountains. Wagonhound Creek received its name from the number of wagons on the nearby Oregon Trail that, while crossing the creek, broke their "hounds," the part of the wagon that connects the tongue and axle.
Wagonhound Land & Cattle features an outstanding broodmare band and the ranch uses its own stallions – NCHA Open Champion WR This Cats Smart and AQHA World Champion Genuine Masterpiece – as well as some of the other top cutting and cow horse stallions in the industry. The ranch's operation also includes 2,500 of the finest Red Angus cattle in the country and a farming division that produces more than 20,000 tons of alfalfa hay annually. Wagonhound's Outfitting Division provides trophy elk, as well as abundant mule and whitetail deer, antelope, bear, waterfowl and turkey.
