Kathy Swan Passes Away

Kathleen (Kathy) Kadash Swan, 65, passed away Friday, June 22, at her home in Scottsdale, Ariz., after having fought a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.

Swan, a former executive editor of the National Reining Horse Association Reiner publication, had worked over 30 years within the equine magazine and book publishing industries. Among the publications she worked for were Quarter Horse News, Western Horseman and Horse & Rider. She was the author of several books, including Reining, the Art of Performance in Horses by Bob Loomis, Shawn Flarida’s and Craig Schmersal’s World Class Reining and Western Horseman’s Natural Horsemanship by Pat Parelli.

A funeral mass, handled by Hansen Mortuary Desert Hills in Scottsdale, will be held Wednesday, June 27, at 10 a.m., at the St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church in Scottsdale.

A second memorial service is planned in the next few weeks at St. Dennis Catholic Church in Lockport, Ill. The date and time are pending.

Survivors include Swan’s husband, Rick, and daughter, Kristy Kadash of Littleton, Colo.
