Another stallion has joined the ranks of Equi-Stat Elite $1 Million Sires. The newest member of the club is 1994 stallion Rowdy Yankee, owned by the Rowdy Partners, Lucama, N.C. Rowdy Yankee’s Equi-Stat sire record boasts 106 offspring performers who have earned a total of $1,001,841.

Cribbing is one of the most prevalent bad barn habits
Walking through the barn is often a symphony of pleasant noises: hay-munching, hoof-clopping and horse-nickering. Unfortunately, sometimes the sounds of the barn are not so sweet: grunts of cribbers, bangs of stall-kickers and scrapes of pawing hooves. Many horse owners are aware of their horses’ bad habits, but a staggering number – 66 percent, according to a recent survey by Dover Saddlery and QuitKick – do nothing about them.

The American Quarter Horse Association is currently accepting bids from companies and organizations interested in managing the 2012 AQHA World Championship Show Sale. The open request for proposal period will close at 5 p.m. Jan. 20, 2012. The World Show Sale occurs each year during the AQHA World Championship Show and provides the opportunity for the public to see and purchase American Quarter Horses.

Sam Smith, Marietta, Okla., rode 2007 gelding Chicsdundreamin (Magnum Chic Dream x Goody Goody Dun Drop x Hollywood Dun It) to a 219.5 and the American Quarter Horse Association Junior Reining World Championship on Sat., Nov. 12. It was the first AQHA title for both horse and rider.

American Quarter Horse youth riders will head to Kreuth, Germany, July 21-28, with the hopes of taking gold medals back to their home countries.
The 2012 American Quarter Horse Youth World Cup will be hosted at the Gut Mastheshof, one of the biggest riding centers in Europe.
